insurance changes headed my way

I saw today on Yahoo that the administration's health care reform will be in part funded by a tax on family health insurance benefits that are greater tha $23,000 in premium cost annually. Who gets to decide the size of a family? Are they really going to penalize me because I am have ten kids that need to see the doctor? I have scratched and clawed for 20 years to get these benefits, now they are going to cost me extra.

What happened to personal responsibility and being a man and taking care of your family on your own.

Thanksgiving - times 10

Thanksgiving at our house takes a 25 pound turkey, a 13 x 9 pan of stuffing and green bean cassarole, a tub of cranberry salad, 5 pies and a 13 x 9 of yams (got to have the marshmallow). With all of that, no leftovers - hardly enough turkey left to make turkey salad for sandwhiches the next day. It was kind of like those feeding frenzies sharks have with the wounded fish. Polite, but very very frenzied.

The turkey never had a chance.

The slow march to insanity

My wife and I are the proud parents of a baby boy. He is our tenth child. No, that is not a misprint or a joke, we have ten kids. Yes they are all ours together and yes, yes I do know what causes that to happen. No multiple births, no medically enhanced multiple litters, just a slow continuous march to insanity.

I remember when my wife and I were very young, saying to each other, "wouldn't a big family be great!" And it is, but it is not something for the timid of heart or the weak of stomach. Our 5 sons and 5 daughters are each a unique treasure and I can't imagine my life without each and every one of them.

But sometimes I can imagine it without finding my good socks upstairs in my son's drawer.
